オープニングのご案内。
当日は、エジンバラ芸術大学長のMr Chris Breward氏と在エジンバラ日本国総領事の田良原氏が出席されるそうです。また、オープニングイベントとしてInchorus, Lothian and Borders Police Choir and Tayside Police Choirーーエジンバラ警察隊、総勢120名の合唱による、“Musical Postcard to Japan’が披露されます。

by 31 artists from Tohoku (Northeastern Japan) and Scotland

in the Sculpture Court, Edinburgh College of Art

5:30 pm Welcome Reception
6:00 pm Official Opening: Mr Masataka Tarahara, Consul General of Japan and Mr Chris Breward Principal of Edinburgh College of Art will officially open the exhibition. Followed by a a special performance by Inchorus, Lothian and Borders Police Choir and Tayside Police Choir who will debut their “Musical Postcard to Japan’

Any benefit from sales of the 76 page full colour catalogue, and 40% of sales from the exhibition will support projects with Tohoku artists working towards recovery in the regions devastated by the ‘Great East Japan Earthquake’ and subsequent tsunami and nuclear disaster. This is a rare opportunity to buy work from some of Tohoku and Scotland’s top artists.
Price list available on request.

The exhibition will then be open from 18th-25th October 10am-5pm. Admission free

Other exhibition projects already underway: “Postcards FROM Japan” An exhibition of A5 original art works by 22 artists from Tohoku, North East Japan. First shown in Edinburgh from 6th August until 4th September 2011 during the Edinburgh Festival. Is now on show at The Japan Society Gallery in New York until 27th November. Future venues will be announced in London and Birmingham and around the world will be announced soon on http://www.ukishima.net

And the sister project “Postcards TO Japan” Over 200 A5 original artwork and poetry postcards sent to Tohoku from all over the world as tangible messages of support will first be shown in the Central Gallery of Iwate Museum of Art in Morioka city, Iwate, Japan from 18th December 2011 to 26th February 2012. It will then tour venues along the stricken coast.

旧石井県令邸とは?現在の県知事にあたる、第二代石井省一郎県令の私邸の洋館として、明治18~19年に建設されました。盛岡で最も古い本格的な煉瓦造の洋館で、全国的に見ても最初期のものです。
